The president of the USA Joe Biden warned Russia that it would face international consequences if it used chemical or tactical nuclear weapons on Ukraine in an interview with CBS released Friday.
The US leader was asked what he would say to Russian President Vladimir Putin “if he is considering using chemical or tactical nuclear weapons”. “‘Don’t do it. You’re going to change the face of war and it’s going to be unlike anything we’ve seen since World War II,'” Biden responded.
When asked about the US response to the possibility of using nuclear weapons, the US president said: “Do you think I would tell you if I knew exactly what it would be? Of course, I won’t tell you. There will be consequences. They (the Russians) will become more pariahs in the world than ever before. And depending on the extent of what they do, the appropriate response will be determined.”
The victories of the Ukrainians on the battlefield, and the recapture of large swathes of territory in the northeast, have some analysts fearing that Putin will even turn to nuclear weapons.
