Those who plan to travel to Florianópolis during the holiday season this season and do not have the complete vaccination schedule may end up being excluded from that expected show, or even having to have a snack outside the restaurant.
After a season with empty hotels and no umbrellas on the sand of its more than one hundred beaches, the capital of Santa Catarina is preparing for a different season, but with the expectation of maximum capacity.
The vaccination passport is one of the requirements for events with more than 500 people. For other establishments, adherence to the “safe place” seal was allowed, where the same requirements may be applied, such as charging for the vaccination passport. For teenagers from 12 to 17 years old, at least the first dose of the immunizing agent will be charged.
“Last year, even if we didn’t have all the restrictions that we had, there was no climate. Now, with the vaccination underway and with the samples we had in recent holidays, expectations are the best possible,” said the president of the Union of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and Similar, Stanislaus Bresolin.
The beaches continue to be the most sought after destinations by tourists. “The expectation is that the capacity in hotels and inns at the height of the season, between December and the end of January, will reach an average of 95%”, anticipated Bresolin.
The Argentines, guaranteed public on beaches like Canasvieiras and Ingleses, in the north of the island, should still come in fewer numbers than in other seasons.
At least three airlines, Gol and Flybondi, in December, with Aerolínineas as of January, will fly the Buenos Aires-Florianópolis section at least twice a week during high season.
Areas of the city such as Campeche, in the south of the island, where the real estate sector is developing at full speed, has been more sought after every season.
The region still maintains many preserved areas, such as the Lagoinha do Leste and Saquinho trails, which are frequented by local residents. The place is a counterpoint to the popular beaches of the northern region, historically the most sought after.
And there are those already thinking about Carnival, such as Costão do Santinho, a luxurious resort in the north of the island of Santa Catarina. The direction of the resort said that reservations for the holidays are practically sold out.
“As in other years, the search for carnival packages is already high. We will close the year 2021 as a record season, consolidating with a golden key our celebrations of 30 years in the hotel market”, informed the direction of Costão.
The space, which has exclusive access to Santinho beach, underwent renovations aimed at attracting the public not only in the summer, but also during the off-season.
The City Hall of Florianópolis announced that it will not hold the traditional end-of-the-year event on Avenida Beira-Mar Norte, to avoid crowding with shows and presentations, as in other years, and that it will only promote fireworks.
With regard to masks, their use becomes optional in open environments where there is the possibility of keeping a distance. In closed environments or in those where it is not possible to maintain a distance, use remains mandatory.
Governor Carlos Moisés (non-party) signed a decree on November 24 that allows for all types of events, including sporting ones, and relaxed the rules for the use of masks in the state.
According to data from the Epidemiological Surveillance, 81.13% of the population in Florianópolis has a complete vaccination schedule. Even so, 80% of the beds destined for Covid patients in Greater Florianópolis were still occupied in the first half of November.
The epidemiologist and professor at UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina), Alexandra Boing, believes that actions to resume activities, especially during the summer season, should be adopted with the utmost caution and alert to measures that could cause a ” false sense of security”.
“Despite the advance in vaccination, we have not yet reached the ideal rate. The announcements by several states for the relaxation of measures such as the non-mandatory requirement for a mask in some environments are worrying”, says the specialist.
“Just as the requirement of a passport only for events with more than 500 people is worrying. This could turn small environments into real laboratories for the spread of the virus.”
Alexandra says that, although there is a state decree that establishes that environments are ventilated, as in the case of restaurants, there are no technical specifications to ensure “not even if the ventilation is adequate or if that place uses its own filters in the air conditioning to contain the virus”, amendment.
In the report, Estanislau Bresolin admits that there is, in the hotel and bar and restaurant sectors, a predisposition to adopt the “safe place” seal. According to him, because they think that this “limits the frequency of public in places, and that they don’t want”.
