Take a photo at the Eiffel Tower, visit the Louvre Museum, stroll along the Champs-Élysées. Paris, the city of light, has always been the most sought after destination by Brazilians in Europe. Now, this and other European itineraries have returned to the top of demand.
“The movement started slowly, but we are coming back. We have not yet reached the 2019 numbers, we will need time for that, but the sector is reheating with the opening of borders”, says Magda Nassar, president of ABAV (Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies).
The specialist believes that the increase in demand at the moment is due to the phenomenon she calls “revenge of the pandemic”. “The great desire of people now, after being imprisoned for so long, is to travel. Any consumer research shows this result”, he bets.
Portugal appears in second place in the demand of Brazilian tourists; Lisbon and Porto are the most desired cities. Attractions that confirm this preference abound. In the capital, the Torre de Belém, classified as world heritage by Unesco, located on the banks of the Tagus River, is one of the most famous tourist spots in the country.
In Porto, tourists need to visit Cais da Ribeira, in front of the Douro River, the best known view of the city. In both destinations, Portuguese cuisine is also an attraction.
Spain, United Kingdom and Germany are also among the most sought after destinations by Brazilians. That’s what Ronnie Corrêa, general director of the Abreu agency in Brazil says —and all these countries have open borders to Brazil, with different rules.
“We have seen an increase in the demand for international travel with these openings. Today we can say that our movement is 50% higher than it was in 2019, which shows a positive growth”, says Corrêa.
For those who want to know the main tourist attractions in Spain, a good choice is to visit Barcelona and Madrid, which lead the tourist demand. In the capital, the Royal Palace and Puerta del Sol are the most famous places in the city.
In Barcelona, in addition to the beaches and boulevards, tourists can enter the universe of the famous architect Antoni Gaudí (1952-1926), visiting the imposing Casa Milà, Park Güell and the Sagrada Familia church, which he recently inaugurated its luminous 4.5-ton star atop the Virgin Mary’s Tower.
Followed by Italy, United Kingdom, where all vaccines available in Brazil are accepted, it is also on the list of favorite places for travelers leaving Brazil.
In the UK, London tops the ranking of most visited cities. The capital is home to Buckingham Palace, residence and seat of the English monarchy, one of the main tourist attractions, as well as the Tower Brigde and the London Tower, two of its most famous postcards.
Due to the delicate moment of the pandemic, Germany is at a low point in the search of Brazilians. “It’s a very important destination for us, but demand has been falling. News from there is not helping, I think that the epidemiological situation in the country has had a weight”, understands Corrêa.
For now, the country continues with open borders and still receives tourists from Brazil.
