The shipping community, through the Union of Greek Shipowners, has in recent years implemented initiatives to support a large number of vulnerable groups of the population, which were deeply affected by the unfavorable economic circumstances in our homeland.

This important social work focused on areas such as nutrition and health issues, strengthening welfare organizations and agencies and strengthening the maritime education sector, making our maritime family present and in solidarity with the daily struggle of thousands of our fellow citizens for a dignified living.

Through the “SYN-ENOSIS” Urban Non-Profit Society for the Social Offering of Greek Shipbuilding, its independent legal entity, the Greek Shipbuilders contributed to the support of the National Health System, doctors and nursing staff of the homeland.

More than 55 Hospitals and Reference Laboratories have been reinforced with equipment of all kinds. The sanitary facilities in hospitals in Attica and Piraeus have been renovated and, in addition, new bed linen has been purchased for the 30,000 beds in the 120 public hospitals throughout the country.”
