The father was arrested on charges of domestic violence, attempted murder and the Drugs and Weapons Act, after a search of the couple’s home in a village in Trifylia turned up a cannabis plant, a pistol and cartridges. The mother, who was also arrested, was charged under the Drugs and Weapons Act. Both apologized to the investigator on Wednesday.

The father himself speaks of a “bad moment”, as he did not know how to deal with the child’s crying and is in a bad situation.

As reported by best-tv.gr, according to the Police, the father was taking care of the 4-month-old girl while his wife was working. The four-month-old little girl was taken by her parents on Saturday night to the Kyparissia Hospital as the child had convulsions, she was immediately transferred to the General Hospital of Kalamata, where after examinations the doctors determined the criticality of her condition, deciding that she should be intubated and leave for Attica Hospital.

According to the Police, the infant had obvious injuries and symptoms of “concussion syndrome” and according to the data the father, who was arrested on Saturday afternoon, was the one who caused them, while he was taking care of the baby in the absence of his wife who time he was working. The 20-year-old father of the child, a citizen of Albania, traveled with the infant to Athens, but shortly afterwards he was arrested by the authorities. The 20-year-old allegedly confessed to shaking the little girl because she was crying.

After the examinations, the incident as stated “After the examinations were completed, the affected infant was treated based on medical protocols (intubation and medication), his transfer began at around 21.00 by EKAB ambulance to the Agia Sophia Children’s Hospital. The infant’s parents, with a friendly couple, followed in a private vehicle.” Afterwards, the results of the tests carried out on the infant are described “Regarding the eyes, multiple, multiple here and there retinal spots and hemorrhages, as a result of abused infant syndrome, while a CT scan revealed an extensive subdural hematoma in the sickle and left cerebral hemisphere. Also found was a subdural hematoma of the right frontal region and few elements of the subarachnoid region. A fracture of the 3rd and 4th lateral arch on the left was also found. According to the affidavits of the doctors who examined the infant, it showed signs of abuse.” and concludes: “Due to the clinical picture of the affected infant, as well as the circumstances under which it occurred, the Service deemed it necessary to locate and bring his parents to our Service. Following a relevant request, they were located by police officers from the Juvenile Directorate / Attica Security Directorate in the forecourt of the Agia Sophia Children’s Hospital, after the ambulance had arrived and they were brought to our Service”.
