The number of benefiting professional drivers reaches or exceeds 5,000.
Important income support for professional taxi drivers who run on natural gas, is the decision of DEPA Emporia to proceed with a bold reduction in the price of Fisikon natural gas from €1.75 to €1.30 per kilo, from Tuesday 4 October.
The percentage reduction in the price of natural gas by 25% by DEPA Emporias, it is estimated that on an annual basis, according to the current prices at the reference hubs, it implies a large saving in fuel costs of the order of 1,500 to 2,000 euros for all professional taxi drivers .
The total fleet of taxi vehicles that use natural gas as fuel in our country amounts to 3,000. Based on this, the number of benefiting professional drivers reaches or even exceeds 5,000, given that at least 80% of taxis serve two shifts.
This decision is a continuation of a series of interventions for the maximum support of domestic consumers and professionals, in the face of the international rally in energy prices.
As far as professional taxi drivers are concerned, fuel is an important part of operating expenses and consequently the reduction in the price of natural gas constitutes a substantial increase in their income.
In fact, taxis that run on natural gas are particularly environmentally friendly, reducing the burden on the atmosphere in cities, as they emit less pollutants than those that use diesel.
Specifically, over the course of five years, a taxi powered by natural gas produces up to 6 tons of carbon dioxide less than a diesel-powered taxi.
