Accountant… detective in Chania – How she got back 10,000 euros from hackers

by

Finally, all is well, as the money has been returned to the owner!

In time dt she succeeded and stopped electronic purchases worth 10,000 euros, made by hackers in the bank account of one of her clients, the accountant Olga Georgoudaki who operates in Chania.

It all happened three days ago when movement was noticed on a woman’s credit card, money she hadn’t used. As Ms. Georgoudaki told zarpanews.gr, both she and her client reported the incident to the Police and the Bank.

They were informed that the transaction would have to be completed in order for the procedures to proceed and maybe at some point she would get her money back. Which, obviously, would be disastrous for the client, as we are talking about a large amount.

Her accountant took action. After collecting all the documents, he managed to get into the account and saw online purchases from stores in Finland and Estonia, and during the investigation he found that the fraudsters had created a fake bank page from a university abroad.

He immediately called the companies that had made the purchases and informed them that it was a fraud and that he had already taken legal action to prevent the process from being completed.

Finally, all is well, as the money has been returned to the owner!

It is worth mentioning once again that great care is needed since the incidents of electronic fraud are increasing.
