Just half a year after its release in the German market, the IONIQ 5 was named “German Car of the Year” for 2022 (GCOTY). In the final round of the acclaimed award, the all-electric mid-size CUV outperformed key competitors such as the Audi E-Tron GT and Porsche 911 GT3.
At the GCOTY Awards, the top car models of the year compete in five categories: “Compact”, “Premium”, “Luxury”, “New Energy” and “Performance”. An internationally recognized jury of 20 automotive journalists tests and evaluates each product for its quality features and future viability. As the winner of the “New Energy” category, IONIQ 5 participated in the final round of the institution, winning the title “German Car of the Year” for 2022.
