Archimandrite Damascenos Kiametis new metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania

The ordination of the new metropolitan of Aetolia will take place next Sunday at the Athens Cathedral.

In its third regular session, under the chairmanship of the archbishop of Athens and all Greece Ieronymos, the Holy Synod of the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece elected the current protosygelo of the Metropolis of Demetrias, Archimandrite Damaskinos Kiametis, new metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania.

The ordination of the new metropolitan of Aetolia will take place next Sunday at the Athens Cathedral.

Tomorrow, the ISI will complete its work with the election of new metropolitans for the Metropolises of Drama and Ilia.

The new metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania Damascinos Kiametis was born in 1975 in Piraeus and comes from Samos.

He received his degree from the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology of the Theological School of the University of Athens in 1997.

In the same year, he became a monk and was ordained a deacon under the blessed Metropolitan of Piraeus, Mr. Kallinikos.

He received the second degree of priesthood in June 2002 under his elder, Metropolitan Dimitriados Ignatiou, whom he followed when he was enthroned in Volos. There he served as archdeacon and director of the metropolitan’s Special Office (1998-2003), general hierarchal commissioner (2003-2006) and then archbishop (2006 to date).
