If last year the Christmas dinner had to be restricted to a few people and away from the crowd of families, this time the celebrations begin to rehearse a return without so many restrictions due to the advance of vaccination against Covid-19.
With that, the tables are plentiful, the pans on the fire, the ovens full of food and also the search for ordering suppers. Different restaurants in São Paulo offer complete options, with starter, main course and dessert, all with different alternatives, from traditional to vegan.

Green Banana
Chef Priscilla Herrera prepares a vegetarian dinner for the date, with separate options for starters, main courses and desserts. Among the menu’s suggestions, the peach palm moqueca with green banana biomass, accompanied by rice with lentils, smoked tofu, leek crispy and plantain farofa with chestnuts costs R$ 240 and serves up to four people.

Dishes such as roasted duck rice with Portuguese sausage and duck breast (R$ 990; 4 kg) can be ordered for Christmas. Other options are chicken (R$ 88) and shrimp (R$ 120) pies. For dessert, the walnut cake (R$ 358) is made without flour, with crushed walnuts and fruit cream filling, topped with baba de baba and meringues. Vegetables are the main characters in the supper of this organic and vegetarian cuisine. The full menu costs from R$320 to R$580 and includes dishes such as roulade and sausage made with shredded jackfruit and red rice cooked in lavender infusion, finished with red wine, smoked tofu and Sicilian lemon zest. Potatoalhoada, a reinterpretation of codfish, is prepared based on roasted potatoes with pepper, tomato, olive, red onion, garlic, shitake, nori seaweed and thyme, all washed down with olive oil. Chef Carla Pernambuco prepares portions and dishes that serve four people. To open the meal, there are recipes such as foils of flour and fonduta of Brazilian cheeses, at the value of R$ 135. Among the roasts, the tender with apricot chutney, bergamot and golden onions costs R$ 650 and can be served with the rice with leeks, saffron and toasted almonds. It costs R$ 140. At the end, the suggestion is the banoffee with buttery dough covered with chocolate, banana, whipped cream, dulce de leche seasoned with cumaru and a touch of cachaça — it costs R$ 350 a pie.

Offers vegan starters, mains and desserts, ordered individually. One of the suggestions is the palmitolhoada, which costs R$ 145, serves two people and is prepared with palm hearts cooked in seaweed syrup and baked with peppers, red onion, olive and olive oil, accompanied by rice seasoned with pesto from the house plus flour farofa of cassava, saffron, laminated apricot and pecan. To sweeten, the glazed peaches are cooked with Sicilian lemon syrup, coconut oil and organic sugar, finished on the plate (R$ 65 200 g).

The Christmas menu, prepared by chef Mario Galluzzi, has suggestions such as apricots with stuffed dates for starters (R$ 68; 200 g) and, to sweeten, the chocolate and chestnut pavetone, which costs R$ 135 per kilo. In the main wing, there’s homemade roast beef with onion compote, for R$ 240 a kilo, and tender in sweet and sour sauce, for R$ 220 a kilo.

Prepare meals for year-end celebrations that include appetizers, starters, main course, side dishes and dessert. There are also vegan suggestions, such as gazpacho with grilled rennet cheese and balsamic sauce and cauliflower tabbouleh with pistachios and pomegranate sauce. For Christmas, the rotisserie includes stuffed turkeys, chester, ham, loin, roast beef and tenderloin, as well as French toast, sausage and mayonnaise salad with vegetables. As an accompaniment, they prepare three types of rice: with raisins, with lentils or with almonds –700 g, they cost R$ 40 and R$ 45. Among the pasta, the house specialty, there are suggestions such as green agnolotti with ricotta and walnuts (R$ 35; 500 g) and ricotta cannelloni (R$ 30; 500 g), which can be washed down with five sauce options.

New in Butantã, the house offers a special menu for the end of the year. In the selection, the roasted pork rib in a honey sauce and macrobiotic soy sauce with apple crumbs and bacon costs R$ 258, while the rack of lamb sealed in mint sauce with sauteed potatoes in garlic and oil costs R$ 380. orders serve three to four people. Naturally fermented breads, such as the one with walnuts, R$ 26 per unit, can be served as an accompaniment. For vegans, the suggestion is the cherry tomato and rosemary focaccia, which costs R$ 120.

The restaurant prepares a Christmas menu with Asian accents. Among the options are white fish ceviche, tuna and salmon with red onion, pepper, olive oil and seasonal fruits, for R$ 99, and braised cod with baby sake, olive oil, dill, juniper and garlic, which costs R$ 180. All dishes serve up to three people. Finally, the French toast is served with English cream and seasonal fruits and costs R$70.

The vegan house offers a supper that includes dishes such as creamy green jackfruit gratin, with vegan cheese cream and slices of golden potatoes, and quiche lorraine, which here is made with bits of smoked tofu and fermented cashew nut cheese on top a mass of chestnuts. To sweeten it, the white forest pie has pasta with almonds and a strawberry cream filling and white chocolate mousse, topped with red fruit sauce and fresh fruit. A complete meal, for six to eight people, costs R$541.

Offers several options for starters, roasts and side dishes for the date, sold individually. Among the suggestions, boneless chicken stuffed with farofa and bacon, pepperoni sausage, onion, carrot and herbs (R$ 77.90 per kilo), roasted and sliced pork shank with onion, tomato and pepper sauce (R$ 95.90) and roasted tenderloin with pineapple chutney, for R$ 95.90 a kilo. The house serves two menu options to be ordered at Christmas. In one, the main dish is cod served with a tavern salad and rice with broccoli, with appetizers such as almonds, Serra da Estrela cheese and a bottle of sparkling wine. The menu, which starts at R$1,203, is also served with bacon from heaven as a dessert. In the second option, which costs R$1,201, what changes is the main dish: grilled codfish.
