KINAL-EDEKAP elections: We are examining the complaints, they did not affect the final result

by

In an announcement late Thursday night, EDEKAP referred to allegations of irregularities in the first round.

The Ethics Committee points out that it examines all issues for non-compliance with its instructions and adds that “they do not affect the final result”.

It is recalled that George Papandreou raised the issue of defending the integrity of the electoral process in a letter to the Ethics Committee of the Movement for Change.

The reason was that in 164 polling stations – that is, in 20% of the polling stations – at least 2,700 more ballots were found than the people who were accredited to vote.

Mr. Papandreou calls for an in-depth investigation of these allegations. In a clarifying statement, he explains that he did not talk about fraud, nor did he raise the issue of the result.

The announcement of EDEKAP:

“EDEKAP has been examining since the evening of Sunday, December 5, all the issues that were brought to its attention and that concern the electoral process and in particular the non-observance, in some cases, of its guidelines, which, however, do not affect the final result.

EDEKAP, as the competent body, in view of the vote of December 12 will issue a new circular for the faithful observance of the rules by all.

As the competent body for conducting the elections, it welcomes the mass turnout of the 271,000 members and friends of the Movement for Change and invites them to go to the polls again on Sunday, December 12th.
