Police officers of the Border Guard Department, in cooperation with frontex, rescued 92 illegal immigrants from the banks of the river Evros, which had been completely abandoned on the spot naked.

Turkey continues to openly use immigrants, violate human rights, violate International Law.

Yesterday, its provocation exceeded all limits, when Policemen of the Border Guard Department, in collaboration with frontex, rescued a total of 92 illegal immigrants from the banks of the river Evros, who had been abandoned at the scene completely naked and without bringing the smallest equipment.

The specific people, as they themselves declared to the Greek Police, they had been transported to Evros in three vehicles of the Turkish Authoritieswhile they then boarded plastic boats to cross over to the Greek side.

It is recalled that the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, yesterday denounced Turkey’s behavior at the Council of Ministers of Interior and Public Order in Luxembourg, while also informing the competent European Commissioner about its daily challenges, presenting audio-visual material.

While Greece effectively protects its borders, showing respect for human life, Turkey continues to ignore not only International Law, but also basic human behavior.”
