A message from “112” was sent by the Civil Protection to the residents of Lasithi, in order to avoid unnecessary movements, as the severe bad weather affecting Crete is headed there.

The message reads: “Activation 112: Potentially hazardous weather over the next 24 hours in P.E. Lasithiou!!! Avoid unnecessary movements – Follow the instructions of the Authorities”.

Trapped in Sitia

At the same time, a release operation is underway in Sitia. According to information from the Fire Service, eight tourists and a guard are trapped in the Archaeological Museum of Sitia and have asked for help from the authorities without being in danger.

At the same time, the Fire Department of the area received calls from two cars in which their passengers were trapped. Each of the vehicles carries two people.

They risked flooding shops in the mall

The bad weather also threatened to flood shops in the city center, where rainwater covered the pavements and reached their entrances. The streets turned into rivers in many parts of the city, such as at the northern entrance, in Psyllinaki where the Saturday market is held, in Anagnostaki and behind the Hospital, according to neakriti.gr
