The extreme flooding affected the areas of Sitia, Ierapetra, Livadia and Agios Ioannis Lasithiou, Agia Pelagia, Lygaria and Heraklion, costing the life of a 50-year-old man.

The missing woman was reportedly in the same vehicle as the man who was found dead.

In the meantime, today, Sunday, October 16, a government echelon headed by Deputy Minister of the Interior Stelios Petsas and Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister responsible for State Aid and Rehabilitation from Natural Disasters, Christos Triandopoulos, will go to Crete.

The delegation will visit areas of the Heraklion and Lasithi prefectures that were affected by the recent extreme weather events, while it will have meetings with the local self-government and service agents for the launch of the support and restoration plan after the natural disaster in the said areas.
