Observing a minute’s silence and with the “Sera” dance, the dancers and the thousands gathered at the Indoor Gymnasium of Lefkvrysi, who participated in the 16th Panhellenic Festival of Pontic Dances, organized on Saturday night in Kozani by the Panpontian Federation of Greece, bid farewell to the Olympian Alexandros Nikolaidis.
Shortly before the end of the Festival in which 1,700 dancers from Pontic Clubs from all over Greece took part, the presenter of the event, Panagiotis Theodoridis, after reading a part of the letter with the last wish of Alexandros Nikolaidis “that his Olympic medals be put up for auction and the money to be given to organizations for the child” invited the more than 5,000 spectators to observe a minute’s silence.
