In the region they have a 24-hour strike, while in Athens they are holding a work stop, from 08:00 to 15:00 at noon
The Federation of Associations of Hospital Doctors of Greece (OENGE) and the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Employees (POEDIN) have announced a 24-hour strike for the region and a work stoppage, from 08:00 to 15:00 for Attica. They are also planning a gathering in Mavili Square at 08:30 and a march to the Ministry of Health.
The two Federations complain about the understaffing and underfunding of the hospitals and ask for the resolution of financial and institutional requests.
“The public health sector is invaluable, irreplaceable and therefore should be protected, strengthened and any scenario for abolitions, mergers of health units and privatization of the National Health Service should be stopped”, emphasizes POEDIN.
The two Federations say “no to the privatization of the NHS” and request, among other things, funding for hospitals, hiring of permanent staff, permanence of adjuncts and contract workers, as well as increases in the salaries of health workers.
