Drug trafficking in Argolis: Availability and EDE for the arrested policeman

Conducting a Sworn Administrative Examination against a police officer, who was also suspended, as he had been arrested in the context of a case of dismantling a criminal organization that systematically trafficked narcotics in areas of Argolis, was ordered by the Hellenic Police Headquarters.

In order to dismantle the criminal organization, yesterday (17/7) at noon, a large-scale police operation was carried out by police officers of the Nafplio Security Department, in collaboration with the Two-Wheel Policing Teams (DI.AS.) of Argolis and the assistance of the police detection dog of narcotics of the Explosive Device Disposal Service and Police Dog Companions (Y.E.E.M.S.A.S) of the Directorate of Special Police Forces.

As part of the operation, six (6) citizens were arrested, -4- men, aged between 19 and 51, as well as -2- women, aged 42 and 44, respectively, members of the criminal organization.

A case file was filed against them, for the establishment of a criminal organization as well as for the – as the case may be – offenses of violating the laws on drugs and weapons.

As for the timing of the dislocation, from a police investigation conducted by the Nafplio Security Department, using appropriate and combined evidence as well as the results of natural methods, it emerged that the above had formed a criminal organization with the purpose of trafficking narcotics (cannabis) in Nafplio and the Argos of Argolida, obtaining significant sums of money.

During the operation, a search was carried out at the 48-year-old’s farm-house, where the 19-year-old and 42-year-old lived, during which the following were found and confiscated:

• quantities of cannabis, total weight -13,427- grams,
• -38- hemp seedlings, up to -2.2- meters high, approximately, hemp seeds, total weight -2,154- grams
• -18- hemp seeds,
• -1-military rifle, “Kalasnikov” type,
• -1- firearm, after magazine and -7- cartridges,
• -3- shotguns,
• -9- detonators,
• -7- spools of ammonium dynamite,
• -11.5- meters of slow-burning rope,
• -355- cartridges of various types and calibers,
• -1- precision scale,
• -2- mobile phones,
• -2- vehicles, as means of committing criminal acts.

In addition, in searches of the home of the 51-year-old and the 44-year-old, a quantity of cannabis was found, with a total weight of -148- grams, while in the home of the 49-year-old, -1- mobile phone was found and confiscated.

Those arrested will be taken to the Chief Criminal Prosecutor of Nafplio, while the investigations continue by the Nafplio Security Department, in order to further investigate the scope of the organization’s criminal activity and the possible involvement of more people in it.
