‘Zen’ hotels have a relaxation routine a few hours from the capital of São Paulo

The pace of the second half is not soft, no. For those who study, work or do both, seeing that the end of the year is getting closer is frightening — and makes us run even more. Not by chance, it is also at this time that hotels and inns specializing in emptying the minds of guests are so popular.

Marketing director of Lake Vilas Charm Hotel & Spa, in Amparo, where a glass house in the middle of the forest is reserved for meditation practitioners, Gabriela Achcar says that the search for peace and relaxation has increased in recent years.

“Couples or executives come to recharge and rest. We noticed that the Meditation House and places like the hidden waterfall are popular with those looking for silence to practice meditation or mindfulness.”

What makes a place a special destination to rest body, mind and spirit? For Pedro Fadida, a partner at the Munay Pousada e Centro Holístico, in Santo Antônio do Pinhal (SP), it is essential to be inserted in an inspiring landscape, in intimate contact with nature, to silence the mind and really slow down.

“We are in the middle of the mountains of Serra da Mantiqueira, overlooking Pedra do Baú. Here it is possible to walk, do integrative and restorative therapies or, simply, contemplate life”, he says.

The following itinerary lists six projects in São Paulo that fit this spirit — they are located in beautiful regions, without walls that block the view of the landscape, and allow guests to alternate very calm activities and moments of introspection and self-knowledge.

Lila’s Farm

At an altitude of 1,300 m, the property is surrounded by the mountains of Serra da Mantiqueira and allows guests to choose between self-discovery retreats and free stays.

The entire surroundings invite you to relax, from the mineral water pool with transparent water to the lounge for practices and workshops, which reveals the exuberant view of Pedra do Baú. There is no shortage of cozy corners to enjoy moments of peace, such as the massage and therapy room, the reading room, a deck where the fire is lit and Mount Varshana, a viewpoint with a 360-degree view of the valley, from where you can watch the sunset. of the sun.

The suites, adapted in the old horse stalls, have comforts such as a closet, glass shower, gas heater and 400 thread count cotton bed linen. Meals, prepared with local organic ingredients, are served in the oldest house on the farm.

Vale do Baú, São Bento do Sapucaí (precise geolocation is sent to guests). Two-day package, for couples, from R$2,500, with meals and yoga practices included.

Krishna Shakti Ashram

It works like an authentic Indian ashram, as places suitable for yoga practice are called, under the coordination of Regina Shakti, president of the Yoga Institute of São Paulo and famous among celebrities.

Whoever stays in one of the eight chalets with fireplace, individual or collective, should not expect perks — the concept is that everyone is responsible for himself. The program starts on Friday at 2 pm and ends on Sunday. “Right on arrival, people meditate to understand what they were looking for and how they can enjoy the space”, says Regina.

Baths in mineral water, walks through the forest, breathing exercises, yoga classes, massages and palm reading are some of the proposed activities — but those who prefer can just sunbathe. An Indian Mass takes place at the temple, where the monk Sripad BV Trivikram Maharaj also leads the study of ancient Indian scriptures.

The ashram provides all lacto-vegetarian meals and does not preclude the use of technology, but Regina recommends keeping your cell phone in your bag — community TV only shows Indian content. After 9pm, silence is the norm.

At the spa, shiatsu, massage, reflexology and Scottish shower sessions promise relaxation, but it is also possible to schedule aesthetic treatments, train in the gym, play tennis, racquetball, beach tennis and beach volleyball.

The menu includes relaxing and detoxifying massages, beauty and rejuvenation treatments, a hot tub with herbs and bath salts, yoga and a therapeutic walk – but those who prefer can just relax, without commitment.

There are three chalets, all equipped with a kitchen, so that visitors have autonomy — those who do not bring ingredients to cook (the harvest in the garden is free) can eat in the city’s restaurants, a ten-minute drive away, or order delivery. Breakfast, with artisanal products, is provided in a basket.
