Spiegel: “Greece wants to supply Germany with wind energy”

“This year alone, Greece has almost doubled its renewable energy potential compared to previous years”

“Greece wants to supply me wind energy in Germany” is the title of an article on Spiegel’s website.

“The Greek government proposed to Germany and Austria the construction of a direct electrical connection. Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas said on Thursday that green electricity could be brought from Greece to central Europe. “It is not an easy task, but there is a great need for green energy in southern Germany, which Greece can provide,” he said.

The initial power of the interconnection could be 3 gigawatts and could cross Albania and other Balkan countries, the Greek minister said.

“Only this year, Greece has almost doubled its renewable energy potential compared to previous years at 3.8 gigawatts. The government’s goal is for renewable energy sources to cover 70% of electricity needs by 2030,” comments Spiegel.
