There will be no ceiling on the amount of products that consumers will be able to buy, said Deputy Minister of Development and Investments Nikos Papathanasis
Every week the products in the “household basket” will change and there will be no ceiling on the amount of products that consumers can buy, said the Deputy Minister of Development and Investment Nikos Papathanasis.
“There are and will continue to be checks on the market for prices and for cases of ill-gotten gains,” said Mr. Papathanasis, speaking to ANT1, and added that “the staff of the control services will be increased, with movements and redeployments.”
Furthermore, the deputy minister said that from the controls that are carried out, “there is a dirty profit in 6%-8% of the control cases in the market”.
Michalis Mousios, president of the Bakers Federation of Greece, intervened in the discussion, saying that due to the energy crisis, “hundreds of bakeries have closed and many others are maintained thanks to their ‘subsidy’, through the personal work of two or three members of the baker’s family ».
Mr. Mousios requested that the subsidy for ovens continue to be strengthened against energy price increases, while he pointed out that “bread cannot and should not be in the “household basket” and, if frozen bread is included, this must be clearly stated”.
It is recalled that, the goal is to start from Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the implementation of the “household basket”.
