“Neighborhood Babysitters”: Expanding to 28 more municipalities

It expands ​​​​​​​​the pilot application of the “Neighborhood Babysitters” program in 28 more municipalities of the country.

Those interested in being employed as curators can visit the website ntantades.gov.gr and register in the “Register of Curators”.

The program concerns the home care of infants and toddlers, aged between 2 months and 2.5 years, and provides financial support for working parents, single parents, foster carers and, especially, mothers, for the use of certified childcare services their.

The new municipalities joining the program are:

Agrini, Alexandroupoli, Argostoli, Artaion, Grevena, Elassona, Zitsa, Igoumenitsa, Kallithea, Karditsa, Komotini, Kordelio-Evosmos, Korinthia, Kos, Lefkada, Mytilene, Nafplio, N. Ionia, N. Corfu, P. Faliro, Peristeri, Pylos Nestoros, Pyrgos, Sitia, Farkadona, Florina, Chalkideon, Chania.

Registration in the Register of Trustees it is done electronically only on the website ntantades.gov.gr and the application submission process is free. An application can be completed by people who are adults, have formal qualifications of proof of knowledge of the category of baby nurse, have a first aid certificate for infants and children and medical opinions from the specialties of pathologist/general practitioner, dermatologist and psychologist.

By registering in the Registry of Caregivers, those interested strengthen their professional profile, as they have all the conditions to work officially and legally in the field of home babysitting, while, by participating in the “Neighborhood Babysitters” action, they have too insurance.

As stated in an announcement by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the registration in the Register of Trustees does not exclude employment in another structure or nursery and the caretakers regulate their working hours, as well as their remuneration, after consultation with the parents.

As for people who do not have a certificate in providing first aid to infants and children, which is mandatory for their participation in the program, they can attend free EKAB seminar and register their participation on the website ntantades.gov.gr. Then, those interested will be notified of the time and place of their training.

It is noted that each curator is allowed to provide his/her services:

  • In one to three children, of which only one child may be under 12 months of age
  • In one to two children, aged under 12 months.

On the occasion of the extension of the pilot application of the program to other municipalities, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, responsible for issues of Demographic and Family Policy and Gender Equality, Maria Syregela, said: “With “Neighborhood Nannies”, we support parents in practice, and especially mothers who want to continue working or rejoin the labor market, after having children.”

It is reminded that interested parties from the following 33 municipalities are already registered in the Register of Curators, through the relevant platform: Abdira, Agios Anargyro, Amfilochia, Eastern Samos, Andros, Apokorono, Vellos-Vocha, Voiou, North Corfu, North Kynouria, Gortyna, Diu- Olympus, Emmanuel Pappa, Eordaia, Evrota, Ikaria, Istiia Edipsos, Kavala, Karpathos, Kropia, Levadea, Mandra-Idyllia, Mantoudi-Limni-Agia ‘A]Anna, Mykonos, Naxos and Small Cyclades, Orestiada, Palama, Pinio, Preveza , Riga Feraio, Sami, Souli and Syros-Hermoupolis.
