The father was identified as the perpetrator of his son’s murder in Menemeni

The crime that was revealed last Wednesday afternoon in an apartment on Omirou Street in Menemeni, Thessaloniki, with a 41-year-old male victim, has been solved.

According to the police, the perpetrator was identified as His 69-year-old fatherwho was found unconscious next to his dead son and is being treated under police surveillance in the ICU of the Papanikolaou hospital.

The investigations of the Crimes Against Life Department of the Thessaloniki Security Service were directed from the first moment against the 69-year-old, as no third person was found at the scene of the crime.

According to the findings of the forensic investigation, the death of the 41-year-old is due to severe head injuries. As it turned out, he suffered repeated blows from a tool, as a result of which his death occurred. The murder weapon is considered to be a shutter, which was reportedly found on the balcony of the house. The results of the histological and toxicological tests are now awaited.

Similar laboratory tests will also be carried out on his 69-year-old father, as it seems that after the murder he tried to end his life, consuming a large amount of unknown pills.

Father and son have had frequent fights lately, the cause of which appears to be the latter’s drug addiction, as reported by neighbors of the family.

The crime came to light when the 41-year-old’s mother and wife of the alleged perpetrator returned to the apartment, found her son in a pool of blood and her husband unconscious next to him, and called 911.
