“Stay in Athens”: Athens is an ideal tourist destination for November as well

by

This year’s initiative is aimed at visitors from the countries of Germany and Austria, who will choose our country for their autumn holidays. Through Stay in Athens, Athens is reintroduced to its visitors, offering them the opportunity to discover its authentic character.

For the 3rd year in a row, Municipality of Athenscooperates with Mastercard, with the aim of supporting Athenian tourism. Through the initiative “Stay in Athens” which is under the auspices of the official tourist guide of the city This is Athens of the Municipality of Athens, Athens emerges as an autumn city-break destination, through a series of proposals for travel with AEGEAN, accommodation and experiences in city, which are exclusively for Mastercard cardholders.

This year’s initiative is aimed at visitors from the countries of Germany and Austria, who will choose our country for their autumn holidays. Through Stay in Athens, Athens is reintroduced to its visitors, offering them the opportunity to discover its authentic character.

Specifically, from November 1st to 27th, through www.stay-in-athens.gr, visitors from abroad and holders of Mastercard cards will have the opportunity of preferential prices for accommodation proposals in selected hotels in Athens. In addition, they will have the opportunity to discover the capital through a wide range of cultural experiences, specially designed for “Stay in Athens”. At the same time, the action is supported by AEGEAN, which provides an exclusive 30% discount on the price of the air ticket for visitors from the countries of Germany and Austria who will book their ticket through www.stay-in-athens.gr.

One of the most interesting cultural experiences that the travelers of the two countries will be able to enjoy will take place at the Cycladic Museum. In particular, travelers who will take advantage of the initiative will have the opportunity to participate – among others – in the In touch with the Cycladic Culture program. In collaboration with the Cycladic Museum of Athens, a thematic tour was created, also accessible to people with visual impairments. The tour also includes the newly constructed mobile display case with marble or resin replicas of exhibits.

The Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, on the occasion of the “Stay in Athens” initiative, in his statement, emphasizes:

“We are working again this year with the companies Mastercard and AEGEAN, in a program that attracts high-quality tourism to our city, strengthening its economy. Athens is now ranked among the top travel destinations, offering its visitors ideal conditions for holidays all year round. It is no coincidence that the Greek capital, through the Development and Tourism Promotion Company of the Municipality of Athens, was awarded this year as Europe’s leading cultural destination. We continue with integrated planning and vision. We create strong alliances with tourism stakeholders and collaborate with them on actions and initiatives that highlight authentic Athenian experiences and upgrade the destination.”

Panagiotis Polydoros, Mastercard’s Country Manager for Greece, Cyprus and Malta, says: “Tourism is the country’s “heavy” industry, but also a key pillar of Mastercard, in which we continue to invest, offering value solutions to strategic our partners. For this reason, we wanted to implement for the third consecutive year, together with This is Athens, the “Stay in Athens” initiative. This year, we are particularly pleased, as we are given the opportunity to renew our cooperation with the Municipality of Athens by supporting our city in practice, but also to cooperate with AEGEAN, thus offering even more privileges and experiences to our cardholders from Austria and Germany”.

It is recalled that “Stay in Athens” is implemented under the auspices of This is Athens, a key pillar of the Development and Tourism Promotion Company of the Municipality of Athens in collaboration with Mastercard, while the initiative was developed and orchestrated by Toposophy.
