Criminal charges have already been brought against him for a felony and he is expected to appear before an investigator in the next period.

The 40-year-old, doctor of the University of Athens, who is accused of trampling to death a kitten, last August, in the center of Thessaloniki, is said to be a lawyer.

Criminal charges have already been brought against him for a felony and he is expected to appear before an investigator in the next period.

Based on the new law, the specific felony is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Apologizing both pre-trial and in the context of a preliminary examination conducted (due to his status), the accused claims – according to information – that he is not the one who was recorded on video by a security camera crushing the unfortunate kitten with his foot, denying by extension the act attributed to him.

However, during the preliminary investigation, it was found that the specific man was also recorded by other cameras of nearby stores, while the case file also includes the testimony of a woman who saw him, for life, wandering around the scene, when the brutal abuse of the unfortunate animal took place.

The case became known after a complaint made by an animal welfare organization and caused a pan-Hellenic outcry.
