In particular, according to the results of analysis by the National Network of Genomic Surveillance of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which operates under the coordination of the EODY, from the 338 samples that have been selected randomly or targeted and refer to the period from September 28 to October 25, was isolated strain Omicron (B.1.1.529).
Of these 338 samples, 28 (8.3%) were identified as BA.2, 8 (2.4%) as BA.4 and 302 (89.3%) as BA.5. Of the BA.2 strains, 17 (60.7%) were identified as sub-variant BA.2.75 (Centaur) and 8 (28.6%) as XBB, while of the BA.5 strains, 12 (4.0% ) as sub-variant BQ.1 and 1 (0.3%) as BQ.1.1.
In the reporting week, 53,436 cases of COVID-19 were recorded (5,122 per million population: 1% weekly change) of which reinfections account for 23% of infections. The total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 5,188,890 of which 52.1% are women. 2The 𝑅𝑡 for the territory based on cases is estimated at 0.99 (95% CI: 0.82 – 1.07).
