Meeting of the Minister of Health Thanos Pleuris with the Board of Directors. of ISA
The participation of private doctors in the institution of the personal doctor, which is a basic request of the ISA which was satisfied, was the focus of the meeting of the outgoing Board of the ISA with the Minister of Health Th. Pleuris and the Minister of Health M. Themistocleous.
As stated in his statement, ISA, the political leadership of the Ministry of Health set out the conditions it is working on for the participation of private doctors in the new PPH system. As he clarified, a basic condition is the guarantee of free access to the personal doctor of all citizens. According to the proposal put forward by the Minister of Health Mr. Pleuris, a mixed system will be created in which the private doctor will be able to contract with a small number of patients (minimum 857) and at the same time he will have the right to privately register other patients as well , without limitation, in which he will determine the remuneration framework himself. He also clarified that there is no question claw back and rebate on the fees of personal doctorsas well as that there will be no restriction on prescribing.
G. Patoulis expressed his satisfaction at the acceptance of the ISA’s request for the participation of private physicians in the institution of personal physician.
“We consider it particularly positive that our proposal for the participation of private doctors was accepted. The formation of the new system is a dynamic process to which ISA contributes significantly, to the benefit of the patient and the medical world. Our goal is for the system to be attractive for the doctor to support it and for the citizen to freely choose the doctor he trusts. That is, a system reliable for the citizen and decent for the doctor. Of course, a necessary condition is to secure the required resources that will make the system sustainable”.
The proposals of the Minister of Health will be brought to the attention of the new Board of Directors of the ISA, which will be constituted as a body tomorrow.
