We did not have a complaint, the investigation started after a prosecutor’s order, says EL.AS. for the case of Petraloni

No complaint was submitted regarding the case of rape of minors in Petralona to the police department, while its investigation by the Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Minors of the Attica Security, began following a relevant order from the Athens District Attorney’s Office, in July 2018, according to what the ELAS headquarters notes in his announcement.

At the same time, he clarifies that the newest prosecutor’s order came to ELAS in October 2022.

In detail, the announcement states the following:

“Regarding the case of Petraloni, the headquarters of the Hellenic Police clarified the following:

The case was not reported to the police, but its investigation by the Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Minors of the Attica Security Directorate began, following a relevant order from the Athens Prosecutor’s Office, in July 2018.

After a thorough and meticulous investigation, the implementation of all the prescribed investigative acts and always in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office, the case file was submitted in a delayed manner in November 2019, while a newer order for the case was received by the above Service the previous month (October 2022).

It is noted that the Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Minors handles this case with due respect and appropriate sensitivity, applying in every case the laws and requirements of the Code of Criminal Procedure, always in accordance with the directions of the competent prosecuting authorities”.
