The death of the elderly couple in the Thermal Baths of Sidirokastro Serres is attributed to drowning, according to the findings of the forensic examination carried out today in Thessaloniki.

According to information, the forensic report records that the drowning of both the 72-year-old and his 70-year-old wife took place at the same time.

Sources of the Forensic Service say that the histological and toxicological tests that will be conducted are expected to provide answers to what preceded the drowning of the two elderly people

What is being investigated is whether they previously lost consciousness – and under what conditions – resulting in their drowning. In the process of the examination of the two bodies, a forensic – technical consultant of the business of the Thermal Baths, where the incident occurred, was also present.

The two elderly people who were in the area for spa tourism were found unconscious by a worker, in a private bath, last Wednesday afternoon. The site was cordoned off for an on-site expert examination, while water samples were also taken from the site. In the on-site investigation, according to information, no damage to the facilities that may be connected to the incident was found.
