After coordinated actions, police officers of the Direct Action Directorate of Thessaloniki proceeded to arrest two people who cheated elderly people.
Yesterday at noon, a 28-year-old Roma man was arrested by the police for defrauding an elderly woman in the Harilaou area.
As it became known, the 28-year-old approached the 84-year-old under the pretense of being a workshop employee and repaired her nephew’s car, he asked her for the sum of 1,200 euros. To be believed, he gave the elderly woman his cell phone in order to talk to an unknown man, who claimed to be her nephew.
Afterwards, they went by car to a bank branch in the same area, where the victim made cash withdrawals and handed over the money to the 28-year-old amount of 1,100 euros.
In the second case, police officers of the same service also arrested yesterday afternoon in the area of ​​Kalamaria, a 33-year-old Roma man, who since the beginning of the year, together with his accomplice, had been visiting the house of an 85-year-old man, where he lives with his wife, taking advantage of their health problems (memory loss ) they managed to extract the sum of 10,000 euros approximately, under the pretense that he owes them various sums of money.
Those arrested will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.
