Corona virus: 61,139 cases, 134 deaths and 89 intubated in one week

At 61,139 cases of coronavirus have arrived in Greece in the last week (31/10-6/11/2022), according to the new EODY report on the epidemiological surveillance of the SARS-CoV-2 infection, published today, Tuesday.

At the same time, aAnother 134 patients ended up, while 89 are intubated.

In more detail, in the reference week 61,139 cases of Covid-19 were recorded (5,860 per million population: 14% weekly change) of which re-infections concern 25% of infections. The total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 5,250,288 of which 52.1% are women.

It is recalled that nationwide last week (24-30/10/2022) the corresponding numbers were 164 dead, 85 intubated, 53,436 cases, +1% weekly change.

The total number of admissions to the territory’s hospitals during the reference week was 1,460 patients, while the total number of discharges amounted to 1,246 patients. The number of intubated patients by the end of the reference week is 89 (69.7% men) with a median age of 76 years and 98.9% having an underlying disease and/or age of 70
years and older.

In the reporting week, 134 patient deaths were recorded COVID-19 of which 10 (7%) died after at least 29 days from the date of laboratory confirmation of the COVID-19 infection, while a total of 33,888 deaths have been recorded since the beginning of the epidemic, with 96.1% having an underlying disease or /and age 70 years or older.

Deaths

The median age of cases is 39 years, while the median age of the deceased is 80 years.

Samples tested: In the reporting week, the positivity rate was 8.51% in a total of 718,561 laboratory tests (RT-PCR/Rapid-Ag) with a seven-day average of 102,652 samples (14% weekly change).

From January 1, 2020 to November 6, 2022, in the laboratories that carry out tests for SARS-CoV-2 and that systematically declare all the samples they test, a total of 12,992,752 have been tested (7-month AD: 10,374, 19% weekly change) clinical samples while 85,280,579 samples have been tested by Health Units and Levels of the EODY that carry out Rapid Ag tests (7-month AD: 92,278, 13% weekly change).

EODY Mass Sampling: In the reporting week, 881 sample control actions were carried out by the EODY Mobile Health Teams (COMY), in which 66,111 Rapid Ag tests were carried out and 9,425 were found positive (14%).

Geographical distribution:

The map shows the geographical distribution of the COVID-19 cases of the last 14 days per Regional Unit of the country, based on the declared address of permanent residence of the patient, or the address of temporary residence for tourists and other temporary residents in Greece. Both cases with a travel history (“imported”) and cases with possible domestic transmission are included.
