The Ministry of Digital Governance is proceeding with the implementation of the project “Modernization of KEPs” concerning Citizen Service Centers throughout the country.
This is a project that has been included in the “Greece 2.0” Project and is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund. In this way, the KEPs will offer even more and better services not only to citizens, but also to businesses, effectively supporting the development of the country.
In particular, the first stage of the project was recently completed with the submission of the approval of the Financial Committees of the municipalities in order to join the “Modernization of the KEP” project.
The program includes the complete renovation of the KEP based on specific specifications as well as the upgrade – replacement of its logistical equipment. In particular, municipalities will receive funding for the following actions:
- The renovation of the existing KEP with a unified corporate image (new logo, colors, interventions for the accessibility of the disabled, etc.)
- The supply for upgrading/replacing computers
- The supply for upgrading/replacing printers
- The supply of tablets to be used by the workers in the KEPs
- The supply of tablets for the evaluation of the services of the KEP by the citizens
- The provision of an electronic priority service system (in the largest KEPs in terms of traffic)
The action was planned and implemented with the cooperation of the Minister of State and Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Thodoris Livanios with the President of KEDE and Mayor of Trikkaia Dimitris Papastergiou.
The total project budget is €43,423,335.04, of which 30% will be paid directly to the beneficiary municipalities as an advance payment and the remaining amount depending on the progress of the work.
Since July 2019, the Citizen Service Centers are constantly expanding and upgrading their operation, with the aim of becoming the only point of physical contact between the citizen and the State, i.e. the citizen can complete his transactions with all public bodies through the CEPs .
It is typical that KEPs can currently process 1,057 Public Administration procedures. In addition, thanks to their digital upgrade and modernization, they provide the possibility of service both in person and by video call, while they also receive digital applications through gov.gr.
