President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) travels this Monday (14) to COP27, the UN (United Nations) conference on climate change, and official commitments begin on Wednesday (16).

The agenda includes a meeting with governors of the Amazon, a speech in the UN area and participation in the forum on indigenous peoples and climate change.

Lula will make a direct flight, aboard a plane owned by businessman José Seripieri Junior, founder of Qualicorp and owner of Qsaúde, as stated in the column Mônica Bergamo. The Gulfstream model aircraft has the capacity to carry 12 people and the autonomy to fly directly to the African country that hosts COP27.

The official agenda, which does not include meetings requested by representatives of countries and organizations, starts on Wednesday (16), at 11:00 am (Sharm el-Sheikh time; 6:00 am Brasília time) with the event Carta da Amazônia, with the governors of Amapá, Acre, Mato Grosso, Pará, Tocantins and Rondônia.

The group intends to deliver to Lula a plan with details of actions to control deforestation, as part of a movement to obtain international resources and seek realignment with PT after the defeat of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the elections.

The re-elected governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB), has sought leadership among his peers and was responsible for inviting Lula to COP27.

Also on Wednesday, at 5:15 pm, Egyptian time, Lula will make his official speech at COP27, in the UN area.

On Thursday (17), at 10 am local time, the president-elect participates in a meeting with Brazilian civil society organizations at the Brazil Hub, and, at 3 pm, in the International Forum of Indigenous Peoples for Climate Change.

On Friday (18), Lula travels to Portugal, to meet with Portuguese authorities, before returning to Brazil at the weekend.

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is not going to Egypt, and who represents Brazil on Tuesday (15), in the plenary session of the event, is the Minister of the Environment, Joaquim Leite. He will speak between 3pm and 7pm.
