“ISA estimates that there is a risk to Public Health, as only the attending physician can perform medical procedures and assess side effects”
The Athens Medical Association issued a statement in which it expresses “its categorical opposition to the decision of the Ministry of Health to administer the flu vaccine without a doctor’s prescription”, stressing that “the prescription of vaccines is part of the medical practice only”.
The announcement continues:
“ISA estimates that there is a risk to Public Health, as only the attending physician can perform medical procedures and assess side effects.
Any medical procedure, performed by non-doctors and in fact in inappropriate places where products are sold, is a counterfeit of the medical profession and poses serious risks to the patient’s health.
No medical procedure can be performed by non-physicians.
No medicine can be given without a prescription.”
