According to a relevant announcement of the international organization, the cooperation will focus on the implementation of joint actions in the fields of education, research, finding sustainable solutions for refugees, aimed at improving the quality of their lives, promoting their autonomy, but also access to social, economic and legal rights.

“The cooperation with the academic community is essential, because they record all the work that takes place in the refugee area and conduct valuable research. Together we can offer refugees the opportunity to make productive use of the time they spend on the islands and to pursue a career in academia, IT or any other field they desire”, says the representative of the High Commission in Greece, Maria Clara Martin.

The University of the Aegean “in collaboration with national and international agencies and networks, such as “Inspire Europe” and “Scholars at Risk”, promotes and supports every effort to support people who were forced to uproot themselves to ensure a better future for them and their families . Given that the refugee women and men who arrive here are full of potential, it is our obligation to offer them actions and tools that will support them in their daily lives, as well as in their future”, points out the rector of the University of the Aegean, Chrissi Vitsilaki.
