The latest on the coronavirus pandemic in Greece
In the week from November 14 to November 20, 53,800 cases of COVID-19 were recorded (5,157 per million population: -4% weekly change) of which reinfections account for 27% of infections.
The total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 5,360,506 of which 52.1% are women.
𝑅𝑡 for the territory based on cases is estimated at 0.87 (95% CI: 0.75 – 0.95).
The total number of admissions to the territory’s hospitals in the reference week was 1,356 patients (7-month period: 194.5% weekly change), while the total number of discharges amounted to 1,148 patients (7-month period: 164.0 % weekly change).
The number of intubated patients by the end of the reporting week is 89 (71.9% male) with a median age of 76 years and 98.9% having an underlying disease and/or age of 70 years or older.
In the reference week, 147 deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded (14 per million population: 23% weekly change) of which 22 (15%) died after at least 29 days from the date of laboratory confirmation of the COVID-19 infection, while from since the start of the epidemic, a total of 34,178 deaths have been recorded, with 96.1% having an underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older.
The median age of the cases is 39 years, while the median age of the dead is 80 years.
Samples Tested: In the reporting week, the positivity rate was 7.97% of a total of 674,813 laboratory tests (RT-PCR/Rapid-Ag) with a seven-day average of 96,402 samples (-2% weekly change).
From January 1, 2020 to November 20, 2022, in the laboratories that carry out tests for SARS-CoV-2 and that systematically declare all the samples they test, a total of 13,130,641 have been tested (7-month AD: 9,345, -10 % weekly change) clinical samples while 86,506,648 samples have been tested from Health Units and Levels of the EODY that carry out Rapid Ag tests (7-month AD: 87,057, -1% weekly change).
EODY Mass Sampling: In the reporting week, 856 sample control actions were carried out by the EODY Mobile Health Teams (COMY), in which 56,851 Rapid Ag tests were carried out and 8,220 were found positive (14%).
