An additional ten cases of armed robberies were discovered at kiosks and gas stations in Nea Filadelfia, Nea Chalkidona, Agioi Anargyrou, Aigaleo, Petroupoli, Marousi and Kato Patisia.

They were arrestedin Nea Chalkidona, by police officers of the Northeast Attica Sub-Directorate, two foreigners of Albanian origin, aged 49 and 57, as members of a gang that committed armed robberies at kiosks and gas stations.

According to ELAS, shortly before their arrest, the defendants committed an armed robbery at a kiosk in the area of ​​Nea Ionia and fled in a car. After searches they were located and arrested. In their possession and in the car they were using, the amount of money they had taken earlier, a replica pistol, clothes used during the robberies and a mobile phone were found and confiscated.

From the ELAS investigation, it was established that the defendants, since the middle of last October, had formed a criminal group with a specific method of action and distinct roles among its members.

In terms of their modus operandi, the gang members moved by car, which they parked in a nearby spot from the target store. The 49-year-old, with his facial features covered, broke into the store and at gunpoint immobilized the employees, forcing them to hand over the receipts to him. He then fled in their company car, in which his 57-year-old accomplice was waiting for him.

In addition, the 49-year-old has pending warrants for violation of the law on weapons and drugs and grievous bodily harm, while the 57-year-old has been accused in the past of robbery, kidnapping and extortion.

The arrested were taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.
