If the student’s financial situation does not allow it, the debt will be settled by the institution, the University states, among others

The University of Thessaly responds to the student of the former TEI of Larissa from Zagora, Pelion, who cannot get his degree due to the debt of 150 euros to the student residences of the institution, stating the following:

“In response to a related publication, based on the University of Thessaly’s dormitory regulations, in Larissa the annual subscription for someone to stay in this dormitory is 150 euros. The family and financial situation of Mr. Kourelas has been taken into account and the relevant deductions have been made based on the regulation.
Mr. Lavrentis Kourelas has completed his studies, he recently submitted a month ago his request to get a degree and owes 105 euros. In particular, he submitted his thesis on 4/7/2022, did not submit a request for swearing-in in July and requested in writing to participate in the swearing-in on November 1st.
If indeed Mr. Kourelas is unable to pay the amount of 105 euros, his request will be settled by the foundation.
However, his request to abolish the “extortion” for all students, as he claims, in violation of the regulation, cannot be accepted. All focal students are aware of the symbolic cost of the annual subscription and respond to this obligation”.
