Patras: Two new frauds-How a restaurateur “stomped” her with the reserve

by

Two new cases of fraud were recorded in the last hours, in the Achaean capital, with the perpetrators extorting a total of 17,000 euros.

The first case of fraud was made over the phone when a businessman in the catering industry received a call from an unknown man, who with the pretext of reserving a table asked for the bank account number for the cash advance.

The owner received a message that mimicked that of his bank, confirmed his codes and 6,000 euros disappeared. The money was transferred in two installments, amounting to 3,000 euros.

The second case of fraud was via email. The victim was sent an email informing him that the financial institution would be making bank account changes, requesting confirmation of personal information.

Unbeknownst to him he gave access to strangers who succeeded and “withdrew” a total of 11,000 euros from his account!

For both cases, a case file was filed for fraud against unknown perpetrators.
