“We call on all women whose safety is threatened in any way to speak openly,” said Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos, who visited female police officers who were handing out leaflets in Syntagma Square.
The Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, honoring and supporting the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, today visited police officers who were handing out information brochures in Syntagma Square.
Mr. Theodorikakos, after speaking with female police officers who staff the domestic violence offices and women who rushed to be informed about the action of EL.AS, made the following statement:
“For the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the Greek Police, every day is a day of effective action against violence against women. 365 days a year, the Greek Police is present. We call on all women whose safety is threatened in any way to speak out. To report what they are experiencing and to know that our police officers, women and men, will be there with them to support them mentally, morally, but also practically effectively to find the right and have their absolute safety. This project is carried out daily by over 400 of our officers in the 18 Domestic Violence Offices of the Greek Police, who this year alone have dealt with over 10,000 such cases of violence, the vast majority against women. Together we will effectively deal with violence against women.”
