Greek-Italian cooperation on immigration – organized crime: Theodorikakos meeting with the Italian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

The Minister of Citizen Protection met with the Minister of the Interior of the new Italian Government, Matteo Piandendozzi Takis Theodorikakos. As Mr. Theodorikakos pointed out, “we are strengthening and upgrading even more the police cooperation of the two states in order to jointly effectively face the challenges of illegal immigration and organized crime”.

We are further strengthening and upgrading the police cooperation of the two states in order to jointly effectively face the challenges of illegal immigration and organized crime.

In this context, I informed my Italian colleague in detail about the implementation of the “Akritas” Plan in Evros, to deal with the exploitation of illegal immigrants.

He expressed to me Italy’s clear support and solidarity in dealing with these challenges at our borders.”
