Meeting with him President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, the prime minister had at the Maximos Palace Kyriakos Mitsotakis during which they discussed issues of bilateral and European interest, with a focus on the energy crisis and the need to wean ourselves off Russian fossil fuels. The two leaders also discussed the latest developments in Ukraine ahead of the December 15 European Council.
The Romanian President is in Athens for the two-day meeting of the leaders of the European People’s Party.
The Prime Minister underlined the importance of the Southern Corridor, while he informed the President of Romania about the infrastructure that Greece is developing and the connections with neighboring countries that turn it into a hub for the energy security of Southeastern Europe.
On the Greek side, the deputy foreign minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, the director of the Prime Minister’s Diplomatic Office Ambassador Anna-Maria Boura, the head of the Prime Minister’s Economic Office Alexis Patelis and the deputy government representative Aristotelia Peloni participated in the meeting.
