The businessman who claims the Alexandros Nikolaidis medal to return it to his family is a restaurant owner in Polichni, Thessaloniki

A businessman from Thessaloniki announced via social media that he will participate in the auction of his medals Alexandrou Nikolaidis, however he does not intend to keep the medal he will be bidding on.

Stefanos Saratsis, a well-known businessman in Thessaloniki, announced that he will participate in the auction where the starting price for one of the two Olympic medals will be 50,000 euros. However, he emphasized that if he succeeds and obtains one of the medals, he will not keep it, but will return it to the family of the great Olympian.

The businessman is the owner of a restaurant in Polichni Thessaloniki and the initiator of the creation of the Home Service service, which concerns the distribution of gourmet food in areas of Thessaloniki, but also in Munich, Germany.

In his post, he said, among other things:

“I would very much like to win this auction, to be the winner, with the amount I have marked in the appropriate box. Of course, you know how auctions work: Everyone puts in the money they can afford, the price goes up and in the end the one who put in the most money wins. Everyone else loses nothing. Just the effort they made until then.

I would love to win this auction myself. But why; Because even if we still win, the money as well as the medal or torch we win will remain in the family. The money for his family to manage and distribute to the institutions they have chosen and the priceless item donated by Alexandros and Dora will remain in the furniture they already have in their home.

How unfair it would be for my own children to grow up with such a priceless item in our home and not his children with their father’s magnum or their father’s torch. No one wants this injustice so let me be the first to act like this, hoping there will be others like me who will act the same way and participate with the amount we can – lose win, leave the money for the institutions that are to go and let this object and this unique object be in the hands of his family. There is absolute trust in his wife, Dora, his parents and his siblings. My gifts, we love you very much.”
