Another night of incidents in areas of western Attica that started from Roma, while the 16-year-old is still hospitalized in a critical condition at the Hippocrates Hospital in Thessaloniki, hit by a bullet from a police officer of the Dias team, during a chase that started when the young man did not pay for gas worth 20 euros.

The current from the regional Egaleo to refineries remains closed until now, due to the fire that broke out shortly after 9 pm in two tire shops, on NATO avenue in Aspropyrgos.

According to the police, Roma groups, after first breaking into the shops, then set them on fire.

Due to the fumes from the burning tires, residents of the surrounding areas were notified via the 112 message to stay in their homes and close doors and windows.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m., young Roma, in Ano Liosia, set fire to a bus without passengers at the intersection of Phylis avenue and Ioustinianou street.

Police forces remained in the area throughout the night.

After this development, OASA announced the withdrawal of all buses from the Ano Liosia depot for safety reasons.

After 11:00 p.m., unknown assailants shot at two Fire Department vehicles, which were moving in the regional area of Aigaleo, luckily without injury.

No medical notice

At the same time, the health condition of the minor is judged by the doctors of the Hippocrates hospital where he is being treated to be particularly critical, while the family’s lawyer in his statements, spoke of a murderous attack by the policeman while accusing ELAS of an attempt to cover up the case.

And while the young man is fighting to stay alive, the fact that during all the days of the minor’s hospitalization, no medical announcement has been issued by the hospital about his health progress has caused an impression as well as reactions.

The OENGE (Federation of Associations of Hospital Physicians of Greece) with its intervention yesterday, requested the immediate issuance of a medical bulletin while calling the attitude of the Hospital administrator “unacceptable” as, as it argued in its announcement, it is the administrator’s responsibility to issue a medical bulletin.
An effervescence prevails all these days in the Roma communities, while the wave of anger in the camps in Athens, Thessaloniki, Megara and Aspropyrgos grows every day.

On Tuesday night in the Auliza area in Menidi, things got out of hand when during the tension that prevailed between the Roma and the police, weapons came out, injuring two OPKE police officers.

“Headaches” at the headquarters of ELAS are caused by videos and photos uploaded on social media, by young people who directly threaten to take the law into their own hands as revenge for the serious injury of the 16-year-old.

On Friday, the 34-year-old police officer who shot the 16-year-old in critical condition will appear before the investigator.

The policeman in his testimony had claimed that he had shot twice without, however, intending to injure the young man’s head.
On one occasion – according to his testimony – he shot in the air to intimidate, while the second time when the bullet hit the 16-year-old in the head, he claimed that he shot “instinctively” while talking about the motorcycle “bouncing” as it was moving at high speed.

For his words and if he is telling the truth that he shot in the air, the forensic laboratories will decide which since yesterday have received the second bullet that was found nailed to the door of an adjacent hotel in the area of the shooting.

After examining the course of the bullet found yesterday, forensics will compare it with the course of the bullet that wounded the minor in the head. They will then decide whether a warning shot was indeed fired in the air to stop the vehicle driven by the young Roma.

At the same time, the political “thermometer” hits red with the Minister of Civil Protection, Mr. Takis Thedorikakos, launching a fierce attack on SYRIZA, accusing it of wanting a repeat of the sad events of 2008. As he characteristically stated:

“Unfortunately, the official opposition and indeed Mr. Tsipras himself but also other voices in public life are trying to instrumentalize this painful case for petty party reasons. With inflammatory statements of division, with extreme rhetoric of populism and hatred towards the police and the government. They attempt a dangerous identification with December 2008 and the repetition of the same sad events that happened then. They are in vain. We will not allow it.”
