Mr. Hatzidakis emphasized that it is the duty of the ministry to do “everything in our power to ease the pain of the parents”.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, had a phone call with the parents of 11-year-old Vassilis who died in the explosion in the school’s incinerator in Serres.
Mr. Hatzidakis in his post on Facebook emphasized that he wished courage to the parents of the unfortunate student and emphasized that it is the ministry’s duty to do “everything in our power to ease the pain of the parents”.
The post of Mr. Hatzidakis in detail:
“The human mind cannot comprehend what happened with the tragic death of Vassilis, the 11-year-old student in Serres. All of us who have small children ourselves feel even more overwhelmed. A special, it seems, child, flag bearer in his school, left us suddenly, after the unexpected explosion of the burner in his school.
I was informed today that Vassilis was the son of Mrs. Dimitras Kanda, an employee of EFKA in Serres. So I got on the phone and talked to both parents tonight. Of course, I wished them courage and strength, even more so as they have another child to protect and raise. In particular, I told Mrs. Kanda, who issues pensions to EFKA, that both the management of EFKA and myself are at her disposal for whatever she needs.
I know this phone call isn’t going to change anything. Santa is now with the angels in heaven. But we as a State – and even more so we especially at the Ministry of Labor – must do everything in our power to ease the pain of his parents and especially his mother. Good Heaven, Santa!’
