A special Christmas celebration, full of emotion, with the protagonists of the children of “Floga” and their families, was set up tonight on the brand new pedestrian street of the Municipality of Athens, between the two hostels of the Association, in Goudi.
A few days ago, the construction of the project was completed, which practically joins the two hostels, so that where there used to be a road and the passage of vehicles was a huge danger for the movement of children, now the modern, elegant pedestrian street of “Flogas” it will now be able to function protectively and entertainingly for life’s little heroes. The project was a personal commitment of the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, who attended the event.
“This project didn’t need money to be done. This project needed soul, said the president of Flogas, Mrs. Maria Tryfonidou, to add: “For many years we tried, we begged each other, again and again, we told them that here we have children who have the right to go out a little… These children are suffering. They came here and in addition to their treatment they also had closure. So one night Kostas came here, I won’t call him Mr. Bakoyannis, I feel like he’s my own man, so he came here and asked us: “What are you doing? What needs do you have?”. We told him this, “We want a piece of boardwalk.” I know that this whole process went through a lot of difficulties, I know that the mayor was a lad. I thank him. Bakoyannis, we love you”, concluded an obviously moved Mrs. Tryfonidou, who is herself the mother of a child with a neoplastic disease.
