The promises of Brazil and the world for the climate at COP26; listen to podcast

by

After being postponed a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, COP26 began on Sunday (31) in Glasgow, Scotland. Over the course of two weeks, world leaders, scientists and civil society representatives negotiate ways to stop global warming and deal with the consequences of the climate crisis.

Some commitments have already been announced, such as a global agreement to reduce methane emissions — one of the main factors responsible for the increase in the planet’s temperature.

In a fragile position because of the policies adopted by the Jair Bolsonaro government, Brazil presented this Monday (1) the goal of halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

At Breakfast this Wednesday (3), reporter Ana Carolina Amaral, who subscribes to the blog Ambiência na sheet and is following the COP in Glasgow, explains what the conference’s objectives are, analyzes the performance of major polluters, such as China and the United States, and assesses the commitments made by Brazil.

The audio program is published on Spotify, a partner streaming service for sheet in the initiative and which specializes in music, podcast and video. You can listen to the episode by clicking below. To access the app just register for free.
