Packages of love to more than 450 families in need
The Holy Diocese of Nea Ionia, Philadelphia, Heraklion and Chalcedon stood by our financially challenged brothers, who are affected by the daily financial burdens, through the solidarity network of its social and charitable structures.
On Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 December 2022, His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Gabriel, accompanied by clergy and volunteers of the social work of the Holy Metropolis, went to the Holy Church of Agios Georgios Nea Ionia and Agia Efimia Nea Chalkidonos respectively and offered “Bags of Love” to the needy our brothers with a significant amount of food and other basic necessities, thus relieving more than 450 families, in view of the great Despotic holiday of Christmas.
This important offer could not be realized without the kind sponsorship of the Minister of Development and Investments, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, the members of the General Philanthropic Fund (G.F.T.) of the Holy Metropolis, the “Sklavenitis” Group, Mr. Gerasimos Fokas, Chairman of the Electra Palace Group, Mr. Theodoros Aftonides, General Manager of Aegean Baltic Bank, the Parents’ Association of the Athens College, the “Benetatos Ioannis” law firm, Mr. Konstantinos Tassoulas (Getfoods Ltd), Mr. Panos Babamtsis and Mr. Ioannis Laskos.
