According to the international press, Eva Kaili ran into contradictions during her first interrogations at the police headquarters and then before the economic judge
A series of mistakes made by MEP Eva Kaili herself allegedly led the authorities to locate the suitcase with the money, specifically the 600,000 euros that her father was carrying, and the subsequent raid on her house that resulted in her arrest.
According to the international press, Eva Kaili ran into contradictions during her first interrogations at the police headquarters and then before the economic judge.
At the same time, according to what Efi Koutsokosta revealed in the main SKAI news bulletin, Eva Kaili immediately after the arrest of her partner Giorgi by the Belgian authorities, called a lawyer she knew in Belgium who reassured her by telling her that she has immunity.
Then, as reported by the Belgian media, due to her panic, she called her father to take the suitcase with the money from her house, while she then allegedly called the former MEP Antonio Panzeri and two other MEPs who have not been named. It was her movements that led the authorities to locate the money in the suitcase and to raid her home.
During her interrogation, MEP Eva Kaili allegedly admitted that she asked her father to hide some of the money that was in her house, Knack magazine and Belgian newspaper Soir report in their new reports.
Kayli’s hearing is on Thursday
The MEP on Thursday is expected to appear before the pre-trial council, which will decide whether she will be remanded in custody or released with restrictive conditions until the trial.
