Hydrocyanic acid was detected in the product, exceeding the legal limit
The Unified Food Control Agency was informed, through the Early Warning System for Food and Animal Feed (RASFF), about the distribution in the Greek market by the German company “Bode Naturkost” of apricot kernels, originating in Pakistan, in which hydrocyanic acid was detected in excess of the legal limit ).
Following further investigation by the Attica Regional Directorate of EFET, the products involved are as follows:
A) the product with the trade name “Mega Foods apricot kernels”, weighing 150 g., batch 228241022 and preferably consumed before 12/31/23, which was sold by the company “VIOUGEIA EPE”. The company has already recalled the product.
B) The product under the trademark “Evergreen Super Nuts Biological Cores of Apricot”, weighing 150 g, with lots of 101122311223, 230922311223, 22102231223,190822311223, 020922231223, 1812223/11223 was distributed by the company “Agrotiki Biodiatrofiki SA”. The company has already recalled the product.
The relevant EFET audits are ongoing. EFET calls on consumers, who have purchased the above products, not to consume them.
