Side in SKAI: We expect an outbreak of the flu in the next four weeks – Lockout to those who hide medicines

by

The Minister of Health referred to the outbreak of the flu, the lack of medicines and the controls in the pharmaceutical warehouses

“At the moment we have an outbreak of the flu and I have to say that Greece is further behind, i.e. the big wave in other European countries has preceded it due to the weather and closed spaces, i.e. we estimate that we will have another four weeks of outbreak” emphasized the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, speaking in the morning on SKAI and on the show Today with Dimitris Oikonomou and Akis Pavlopoulos.

“This is because children between the ages of zero and three get some viruses. This didn’t happen in the past because we had restrictive measures and we have a much larger child population who, while they passed some viruses at a younger age and had formed an immunity, pass them now.
This creates a flu intensity. We believe that the escalation will continue and we see that at the same time the coronavirus remains at a stability in terms of cases. Influenza is treated in the Children’s Department and very well indeed,” noted Mr. Pleuris.

Regarding the lack of medicineswrite down:

“The lack of drugs in what we call elliptical drugs is due to the prohibitions imposed by the EOF and at the same time to the control that is carried out in the pharmacies. We put bans on drug exports and, at the same time, required pharmacies to declare stocks and check whether there is a shortage.

Because Greece has cheaper medicine than other European countries, it is advantageous to export. But this is controlled.

As far as pediatric drugs are concerned, due to the overall flu outbreak, the companies themselves are having difficulties meeting the needs of the population. So there is no artificial shortage there, there is a battle going on in the supply chain and at the moment I think it is leveling off because as the recession came in Europe, it will come here.

The market will be continuously normalized. We’ve got medicine coming. There is the problem, nobody says it doesn’t exist.

As far as exports are concerned, we are closing them completely. Now nothing leaves the country and the closure of pharmaceutical stores will be announced, as well as the suspension of licenses found to be exporting”.

Suspension of operations in pharmacies

The minister also spoke about the checks that are being carried out, where he noted that if something objectionable is found, there will be locks:

“Five multinationals are being checked to see if they have the sufficiency of the medicines they need in a three-month period. These companies must distribute the drugs correctly, but many times a choice is made, depending on which drugs are sold more expensively in the country.

Ten pharmacies have also been inspected, some of which did not cooperate in the inspection, so I assume that there will be penalties. I have instructed that if a pharmacy is found that has not declared all its stocks, the penalty will be one: suspension of its operation.

I spoke with the president of the EOF, next week we will have results. He told me that one or two did not cooperate in the control and that means a lock.”
